Ever since I can remember; my grandparents have always taken care of cows. I loved going from one ranch to another to see them feed the cows. My favorite part would be sitting in the truck bed and watching the cows follow as if were on a cattle drive. Now that I am all grown up, I enjoy taking my daughter along on trips like that so she can yell “moo!!” to the cows as they follow the truck waiting to be fed. On one of our more recent trips...

Welcome fall weather! The air is cool this morning and my students have put together some really nice pumpkin drawings together. Once these drawings were completed, the students had the chance to convert their compositions into larger paintings; which are now hanging on the wall outside the art classroom at the RGVAS. Here are photos from our final summer camp of the year at RGVAS. The camps were very successful and we all had a great time. The theme of the week was Pop Culture and I had the students create some Soda Pop Art!
Well this past week I set out to create my first watercolor portrait. I completed it, to a certain degree. One of the easiest subjects for me to do any project on would have to be my daughter, I have an expansive library of photos featuring her to choose from. I began the project with a plan and had to adjust and re-think my composition as the project progressed. I do have not fully studied the human face in any medium, so this was a very difficult...

here is where I take my art to the next levelInside the Rio Grand Valley Arts Studio, behind the main office, down the hall a ways and on the left hand side of another hallway you will find my classroom. Once you walk in, right in front of you is a new mural I’ve started, with the help of some of the students. Within this room I have begun to teach art in a variety of ways to children ranging in ages from 3-14yrs. The classroom atmosphere is set for an open studio. I want my students to be able to create something they enjoy working on. This helps them focus and remain dedicated to the project at hand.

I would like to thank the parents for bringing their children out to the hospital to volunteer their time and talents in an effort to make children visiting the hospital feel as comfortable as possible. I am extremely happy with the student turnout for our first working day. All of the kids did great work and were very focused on their individual tasks.
