Friendly fun

Recently one of my friends went on a trip to Mexico.  As dangerous as that can be, he still had a good time and posted some photos on his facebook page.  With good intentions in mind, I decided that something had to be done with one of these photos so I saved it and got to work. Masking out the background was the first and easiest thing to do, and my color scheme was already set thanks to the original colors of the mask he is wearing. Coming up with a theme took a little research.  Using both google and Bing image searches i tried to find common themes within traditional Luchador posters. Using some of those ideas as a starting point I set out to create my own layout. The location was easy to pick and I will admit I did not know the name of the venue had recently been changed, but I have corrected it since.  The most important details I think were the addition of a light texture to the background sunburst and the placement of some ink splatters.  The splatters gave it a more naturalistic and believable quality.
