Fun project for kids

Fun project for kids

A couple of months ago I bought some of those wall decals for our living room. Once the decals were up, I was left with this big white piece of cardboard.  Instead of just throwing it away like most people, I thought it would be fun to color on it with my daughter. In order to get a nice piece out of it I gave her the colors I was going to use. Since she is only 1 1/2 yrs old, she isn’t to picky as to which colors she uses. The cardboard was very long and I had an idea of making a forest out of it. In the end Denise and I created a little bamboo patch. I gave her the lightest colors to work with, lime green and yellow and I just went ahead and started coloring. The entire project was completed using crayola crayons and markers.

If you want to try something like this, remember that cardboard is corrugated so it has the potential to tear. Start coloring soft and using light colors first to get your idea down just the way you want. Let your kid get involved, by giving them the board first or color together (if your board is long enough you can switch places as you work). Pick a fun subject to color, something that lends itself to your childs interests. Other ideas I was considering: underwater theme with fish, cityscape, or a farm. Don’t limit yourself to just these topics, random shapes, numbers or just swirls of colors can make beautiful compositions as well; plus depending on the age of your child it could be used as a teaching tool.
