Spring break…

Spring break…

Well the studio is closed for the week of spring break so I bought myself a small pack of watercolors. Here are some quick watercolor studies that I’ve done over the break.  Its good practice and lots of fun. If you try it on your own remember that it works best with a thicker type of paper that can absorb more water, and that the paper will warp some after completed. Allow it your work to dry and then flatten under a book.  With the weather we are having down here in the Valley it would be fun to go out doors to paint or sketch. In addition to the great weather it is nice to work using natural sunlight.

These were made on 9″x12″ 60lb (sketch paper), with a small brush and using water in a small cup. I would recommend at least 80lb or heavier paper. For an interesting effect, while the paper is still wet with color sprinkle a little salt over the water. The salt will absorb excess water and create a unique pattern with the color.

  2. Thank you! I think the majority of the benefits are intrinsic, when it comes to fine art in valley. There are some jobs here and there, but you really have to go out and look for them. Good luck in college!
